HBA Cares Vice President Linda Warren Teaching On An International Level
Category: News & Information
HBA Cares Vice President Linda Warren, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, President of Warren Management Group, Inc. has served on the National Faculty for Community Associations Institute (CAI) since 2003. She has taught courses to over 700 community association managers across the US seeking to further their professional training and obtain nationally-recognized designations. Now that influence has reached internationally. Having been recognized at this year’s National Conference as CAI’s 2013 Educator of the Year, Linda was selected as the perfect fit to send to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in December to give instruction to dozens of community managers of “Owners Associations” in Dubai and surrounding areas. Managers of many nationalities participated in the courses taught by Warren in Dubai, yet the management skills taught were recognized as being “universally applicable.” Ms. Warren often reflects on the small farming community in Nebraska where she grew up, learning first-hand the value of sense of community. Realizing that her opportunities to build upon that foundation with her own clients & management team as well as mentor managers across the US has been exceptional, she now realizes that US borders do not contain her opportunity to influence the quality of community living! People around the world benefit from the value of community associations; ours is the opportunity to both share and learn. Ms. Warren realized that the people of Dubai hold ownership of property in very high value; they want the most from their investment and to live in a desirable community – just like people in Colorado Springs!

Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial Dedicated
Category: News & Information
On Saturday, November 22, Mountain Shadows residents came together with City officials to show their love and respect to Bill and Barbara Everett, who perished in the 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire and dedicated the permanent Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial in the Mountain Shadows Park. A hiking trail was also dedicated to the Everetts' who were avid hikers.

"This is a great example of the power of partnership between the City and community," said Mayor Steve Bach.

The Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial is a mosaic sculpture entitled " Heart" created by artist Eileen Gay. The memorial has been largely funded through the generous donation from Steve Weed and Laurie Wilson. Their project, Ashes to Art, showcasing Steve's paintings of the Waldo Canyon fire was auctioned last October to raise funds for the memorial.

Additional donors include Spirit of the Springs, Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs, Classic Homes and the Colorado Springs Together Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Park Renovations made possible through the direct financial support of Classic Homes, HBA Cares and Land Title Guarantee Company, as well as through abundant in-kind donations from the Colorado Springs community.
